Serbia → Slovakia by bus & van

Direct coaches from Belgrade, Novi Sad and Subotica to Bratislava, Trnava, Nitra, Žilina and Košice. Real schedules, real prices, instant e-ticket.

Serbia–Slovakia is one of the busiest diaspora coach corridors in Central Europe. With a large Slovak community in Vojvodina (Bački Petrovac, Kovačica) and tens of thousands of Serbian workers and students in Bratislava and Košice, daily direct buses are the cheapest, most direct way to travel — no flight connections, no baggage fees, city-centre arrivals.

Routes & prices

Every route also runs in the reverse direction (Slovakia → Serbia) at similar prices.

Border crossings

Coaches cross two borders: Serbia → Hungary at Horgoš / Röszke, then Hungary → Slovakia (Schengen internal, usually no stop). The first crossing is the slow one — typically 30–90 minutes, occasionally 2h on summer weekends. Have your passport ready; drivers collect them for the booth. Serbian, EU, UK, US, Canadian and Australian passports enter Slovakia visa-free for 90 days.

Arrival in Slovakia

Buses arrive at Bratislava AS Mlynské Nivy — the city's brand-new central bus terminal, directly above an S-Bahn / tram interchange. Košice arrivals are at the main bus station (Autobusová Stanica), 5 minutes from the railway station. Trnava, Nitra and Žilina also use their central bus terminals, all well connected to local transport.

Tips from regular travellers

  • If you live in Vojvodina, board in Subotica — you skip 2 hours of Serbian motorway and save €10.
  • Book 7 days ahead for the best fares. Friday evening and Sunday departures are the first to sell out.
  • Night buses from Belgrade leave 20:00–22:00 and arrive in Bratislava around 07:00 — perfect for a Monday morning.
  • Bring small change in EUR — Hungarian service stops accept cards but ATMs charge €5–€7.
  • Carry your passport in your hand luggage, not the hold.
  • Returning to Serbia? The same operators run the reverse direction at the same prices — book a return for a discount.
