7-day Balkan itinerary — Adriatic + Albania

Should I rent a car for a Balkan trip?+

Not for the main cities — buses are cheaper and faster than dealing with old-town parking. Rent a car for Montenegro's mountains, Bosnia's countryside or northern Albania.

Stick to Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Bosnia and you can travel for €40/day all in. Skip Croatia coast in summer to halve your budget.
